Dental Student Placements

IDH are giving you the rare opportunity within the industry to see what real life dentistry is like before you qualify and offer one or two week placements in the majority of our practices nationwide. You will have a structured week shadowing dentists, specialists, nurses, practice managers and meet the field team to give you the full experience of working as a dentist in the NHS system.

We are keen to offer dental students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working in practice. By participating in this voluntary scheme, you will benefit from the following:

• Gaining experience of different types of patients
• Learning from broader clinical experience
• Observing dentistry in a practice setting
• Observing the benefits of team working
• Learning more about working with a dental body corporate
• Gaining a greater understanding of the NHS system and UDAs
• Gaining greater confidence, awareness and a sense of your own training requirements

We believe that such work placements can help students to develop both personally and professionally, in addition to aiding decision-making during and after your time at university.

To ensure that talented people fulfill their potential here, we provide ongoing support. It starts with a comprehensive safe start induction programme and a Personal Development Plan drawn up for you by a Clinical Director. From there, we’ll support your longer-term professional development with opportunities to specialise in areas such as Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Implants.
